AEC Architectural Module
The AEC Architectural module gives progeCAD intelligent building objects that behave the way architects expect — walls that join at corners, doors and windows that cut openings automatically, and roofs that generate from wall footprints.
Draw walls by clicking start and end points. Walls automatically clean up at corners, T-junctions, and intersections. Set width, height, base offset, and layer assignment. Walls update in both 2D plan and 3D model simultaneously.
Insert doors and windows into walls — the opening is cut automatically in plan and 3D. Choose from standard types and sizes, set swing direction, set sill height and head height. Drag to reposition along the wall.
Generate roof planes from wall footprints — hip, gable, shed, and complex roof forms. Define pitch, overhang, and fascia. Slabs for floors and ceilings with openings for stairs and services.
Intelligent stair objects for straight, L-shaped, and U-shaped configurations. Set tread depth, riser height, width, and landing dimensions. 2D plan symbol and 3D geometry generated automatically.
Every AEC object exists in both 2D and 3D. Work in plan view to lay out rooms and the 3D model builds itself. Generate elevations and sections from the 3D model. Present to clients in full perspective renders.

Proxies can be exploded to recover the underlying geometry, but once exploded the drawing can no longer round-trip back to AutoCAD Architecture with intelligent AEC behaviour intact. If your team works actively in AutoCAD Architecture, plan for a one-way workflow.

What does the AEC Architectural Module include?

It adds intelligent building objects on top of the full AutoCAD-compatible architectural CAD software platform: walls that clean up at corners and T-junctions, doors and windows that cut their own openings, roofs generated from wall footprints, slabs, and stairs. It also supports Revit and IFC import directly. A perpetual license is $540 — compared to $2,095/year for AutoCAD Architecture.
Is the AEC Architectural module an extra purchase?
No. Intelligent AEC building objects — walls that clean up at corners and T-junctions, doors and windows that cut their own openings, roofs generated from wall footprints, slabs and stairs — are included in every progeCAD Professional license at no additional cost. Autodesk sells Architecture as a separate specialized toolset; progeCAD does not charge separately for it.
Can the AEC Architectural Module open drawings created in AutoCAD Architecture?

Can the AEC Architectural Module import Revit and IFC models?
Yes. The AEC Architectural Module supports both import and attach for Revit (.rvt, .rfa) and IFC files. Use Import to convert the model into editable geometry you can work with directly — extract elements, flatten to 2D documentation, or place on layers by category. Use Attach to reference the model as an underlay beneath your drawing without converting it. Either way, this is BIM reference rather than full parametric BIM authoring.
