progeEARTH
progeEARTH extends progeCAD with a full suite of civil survey and terrain tools — DTM surface generation, cut/fill volumes, contour production, and corridor road design. Built for civil engineers and CAD drafters who need to work with survey data and produce earthworks documentation.
Survey/COGO, DTM, and simple road design for civil engineers and survey professionals — at a fraction of the cost of Civil 3D or 12d.
The Platform — progeCAD Professional
progeEARTH runs inside progeCAD Professional — so you also get the full AutoCAD-compatible drafting environment. Same commands, same DWG format, same workflows. One-time for progeCAD, then add progeEARTH on top.
Draw horizontal alignments, apply curve transitions, produce plan and profile sheets, and annotate chainage, grades, and design speeds. Coordinate geometry tools built in for precise layout without manual calculation.
Design open channels, culverts, pit layouts, and stormwater pipe networks. Annotate invert levels, grades, and flow paths precisely. Output construction drawings directly from design geometry.
Lay out water supply, sewer, gas, and telecommunications corridors. Manage multiple services across a single site on separate layers, with full control over linetype, colour, and annotation standards.
Produce site development plans, lot boundary layouts, easement definitions, and subdivision staging plans. Use polyline offsets, curve tools, and area annotation to work at cadastral precision.
Assemble full drawing sets — title blocks, revision clouds, detail references, sections, and notes. Use sheet sets and layouts to manage multiple drawing scales within a single DWG project file.
Automate repetitive design tasks — bearing/distance callouts, standard detail insertion, layer setup, and schedule generation. Most existing AutoCAD Lisp routines run without modification.
Exchange drawings directly with councils, contractors, surveyors, and sub-consultants on AutoCAD — no conversion, no data loss. Supports DWG from AutoCAD 2.5 through the latest version.
progeCAD's full block library includes road signs, drainage symbols, utility markers, north arrows, and standard detail callouts alongside thousands of general-purpose symbols. Drop in pre-drawn standard details and reuse across projects.
Import PDFs as editable DWG geometry with layers intact — useful for working from survey scans or client-supplied drawings. Export stamped construction drawings to PDF with full layer, lineweight, and pen table control.
What does progeEARTH offer for civil engineering?
progeEARTH + progeCAD is the civil engineering CAD solution — the practical AutoCAD Civil 3D alternative for civil engineers who need terrain modeling, DTM surfaces, contour generation, cut/fill volumes, and road design on top of progeCAD's full AutoCAD-compatible drafting platform. One-time cost versus AutoCAD Civil 3D's $2,095/year subscription.
Does progeEARTH work on its own, or do I need progeCAD too?
progeEARTH is an add-on and requires progeCAD Professional as its platform — it runs inside progeCAD rather than as standalone software. So a civil setup is progeCAD Professional at $540 one-time plus progeEARTH from $399 per module. Both are perpetual licenses, and the modules are priced individually so you only buy the capability you actually need.
Can progeEARTH read survey data from total stations and GPS collectors?
Yes. progeEARTH imports ASCII and CSV point data from total stations and GPS collectors, then builds TIN surfaces from those points. It also includes COGO tools for traverse, closure, and boundary work. From imported survey points you can generate contours at user-defined intervals, calculate cut and fill volumes, and produce long-section profiles and cross-sections.
Is progeEARTH a full replacement for Civil 3D?
For straightforward civil work, it covers the essentials well — existing-terrain modeling from survey points, grading plans, earthwork volume estimates, and simple road corridors with horizontal and vertical alignment, profiles, and sections. It is not a feature-for-feature Civil 3D equivalent, and it does not attempt to be a fully parametric dynamic-model environment. If your projects are complex corridor designs with heavy model interdependency, Civil 3D does more. If you need solid terrain and earthworks documentation without a subscription, progeEARTH is designed for exactly that.
